Any advice on dating someone in the military while still maintaining your sanity/identity?

My boyfriend is a nuke in the Navy, and he is in Charleston for schooling. I am in San Diego going to college. Now, before I say anything, I am VERY proud of him and I am glad he is doing something that is good for his future/our country.

I hate to stereotype, but from what I am witnessing an overwhelming number of girls my age (21ish) are moving to be with their boyfriends and/or marrying them. I have no intention of doing either (might go stay with him for a few months later into his schooling, we’ll see), but other than that I am not ready for marriage and it would not be fair to me or him for us to rush into that sort of union unprepared. There are still a lot of things I want to accomplish before settling down, however I am very serious about this relationship and I really want this to work out. I guess my question is, how do I go about focusing on my future while still nurturing the relationship? Any girls out there in a similar situation? All help/opinions are appreciated :)
Chris A – Can’t decide if you openly mocking me was endearing (probably not) or just outright sarcastic, I don’t care. You”re f****** hilarious and if I could award you with best answer right now I would. Thanks for the laugh my friend. I will just live life and see what happens.

How to make military relationships work

I’ve been dating a woman for a littler over a year now. Although, she was away teaching enlish for a year. We now live together. Before she moved here I made it perfectly clear that I consider the military a career and that I may have to deploy and/or relocate in the future. I’ve already done so twice. She stated she was fine with that and we would deal with it if it happened. However, now she’s saying she isn’t sure if she could wait if I was deployed, unsure about moving, and wants to pursue a career. I know it would be extremely difficult for her to have a good career and progress, and I realize sometimes people change their minds. I don’t know if I can accept her being indecisive and if I should pursue this relationship any further.

Help Dating a US Navy Military Wool Coat?

I have a US Men’s long wool [about calf length] coat that’s US Navy. There are no label only a Davis Clothing Co tag. It looks older than WWII but I think it looks to new to be from WWI. The original owner served in the Navy for 30-some years and he was about 90 when he past. But other than that, I know nothing.

Any help or ideas? Thank in advance.

Dating help for a military veteran, 27 y.o.?

Hi everyone,

Last year I left the MC (marine core) after 9 years of service, to finally be able to live a normal civil life. I’m lucky not to have any physical injuries or PTSD, and since I was in radio comm. my experience was good for a relatively decent job, so I’m ok financially.
Considering everything in aggregate, I think I actually turned out fairly normal…

The problem is I work and go to school, so there’s limited free time, and I don’t really have a lot of friends back here, so it’s really hard to get out and meet people.
The girls I meet love partying, dancing, traveling etc… and that’s what they love to do every weekend, which does not exactly align with my life experience.

I’ve been single since high school (for 9 years), and it’s getting really lonely.
Would really appreciate some advice!
Thanks!

What does the writing on a military footlocker mean?

I have just purchased an old military footlocker and am trying to date it and get some information on its original owner (told it was WWII era). The only clue is the writing stamped in black which reads:

William H. Hart (I assume the original owner’s name)
LT 0-1588625
RH – 130 – AAA

Does anyone know what this information means?

Many thanks in advance!

For the military are you assigned a date to leave for BMT or do you choose?

I am leaving for MEPS soon and was wondering if you are able to choose a day or are you assigned a day? I was also wondering if there are any tips for the depth perception test?
